Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs for Fire Alarm Systems
Always. Fleenor Security can install fire alarm systems to meet the most stringent compliancy needs such as UL-listed systems, and we have built communicative relationships with the authorities having jurisdiction, such as fire marshals, in the areas we serve to ensure we are always meeting their expectations for compliancy.
Yes, yes, and yes! Our NICET-certified fire alarm designers can design code-compliant fire alarm systems, complete the permitting process, and provide you with an inspection program that meets the legal requirements for your business or public space.
Absolutely, and in most cases, code actually requires a fire alarm system monitor a building’s sprinkler system. Whether your system is a dry system that also needs air pumps monitored, or a wet system that simply needs tamper and waterflow supervision, our fire alarm systems can monitor it all.
In the event the fire alarm system goes off, protecting lives and property is the highest priority. Once the alarm signal is received at Fleenor Security’s central station from a commercial or public property, our operators dispatch to your property’s local fire department immediately. Our operators will then contact the pre-designated contact list that you provided. If an authorized individual on-site can provide information regarding the cause of the alarm, our operators can relay those details to dispatch and responding fire personnel. While fire department dispatches cannot be canceled once initiated, we can provide updated information to assist emergency responders in assessing the situation. If a fire alarm is confirmed to be an actual emergency, our operators can also notify dispatch with that confirmation and any additional details available from the premises.
In most cases, code dictates that a fire alarm have enough battery backup to function in “standby” mode (meaning it is not in alarm) for 24 hours, and, following that 24 hours of standby functionality, still be able to function in a full alarm state for 5 minutes. During system design, we calculate the batteries required to ensure that requirement is met, and our systems will always meet at least that requirement if not more.
